Camp Happy Days (CHD), a local South Carolina nonprofit, will host a special event at 7pm on Thursday, February 16 to benefit children battling cancer and their families. Corks For Kids will be an evening filled with wine, hors d’oeuvres, music and Lowcountry art at the Cooper River Room in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. Tickets for the event are $125 per person.

"Rosemary LaVista, CHD board member and event chair, has brought together an incredible group of people who are making this event spectacular! With wine, food and art, Corks for Kids will be the perfect date-night and it’s for a really great cause!” said Cindy Johnson, Executive Director at Camp Happy Days.

While being serenaded by jazz music, guests can view and bid on a number of fine art pieces donated by local artists.  Pieces include work by; Alicia Colella, Sarah Dowling, Phyllis Leventis, Anne Darby Parker, Elizabeth Ann Bradley, Ginny Versteegen, Jennifer Black, Lorrie Merryman, Mila Garro, Becky Taylor and Deborah Palmer.

Emcee of the event is Ken Cook, former Fox5 Atlanta Chief Meteorologist. Mr. Cook has devoted much of his time over the past 30 years to charitable organizations including Toys For Tots, Project Overcoat, Heart Trek and The Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon. Not only has Cook served his community, but he has also won several Emmy Awards for his work in meteorology and was recently inducted into the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Camp Happy Days’ purpose is to provide free year-round programs, services and support to children battling cancer and their families. Camp Happy Days is excited about this new event that is designed to engage and educate more people on pediatric cancer and the families dealing with this devastating disease.  All proceeds from the event will directly go to Camp Happy Days so that they can continue to provide aid and resources to these young and deserving beneficiaries.

Corks for Kids begins at 7pm on Thursday, February 16 and tickets are $125 per person. Several sponsorship opportunities are also available.
