WOMEN DISCERNING THEIR CALLS TO MINISTRY AND THOSE ALREADY LICENSED AND OR ORDAINED ARE INVITED TO ATTEND THE SECOND WOMEN IN MINISTRY (AND DISCERNMENT) FELLOWSHIP BEING HOSTED BY LOOK ‘N LIVE MINISTRIES, INC., ON SATURDAY, MARCH 25 FROM 9 A.M. TO 2 P.M.
“I am so excited about the second installment of a program I first hosted in 2014,” said the Rev. Dr. Arlecia Simmons, the founder of the ministry and convener of the one-day session. A native of North Charleston, Simmons is the senior pastor of the Faith United Church of Christ in Washington, D.C., and held a similar event in March 2014.
“This year, we are not only calling women who have credentials and ministerial titles, but also women who are simply sensing God's still small voice, “Simmons said. "Some people know they have a call on their lives, but they're unsure whether it's a call to preaching, writing, administration, or some other area. We can be called to more than preaching."
The 2012 graduate of Duke University Divinity School created the event because she recalls delaying her call to ministry because of limited role models, potential rejection, and unclarity about ministry beyond the four walls of the church.
“During this 5-hour session, I hope women already operating in ministry will gain clarity about their calls,” Simmons explained. “This is the season where the people of God must be activated into purpose. Ministers are needed within the four walls of the church and in every space where darkness resides. It's not the time to delay, shrink, or postpone answering your call until retirement."
Registration for the event is now open and additional information about the event can be found at www.looknlive.com. For more information, call 864-571-0470 or email info@looknlive.com.

In April 2015 a request to the Department of Justice was submitted for an investigation into the civil rights violation of Walter Scott and alleging unconstitutional conduct by the North Charleston Police Department. There has not been one single reform put forth as a result of the unlawful killing of Mr. Walter Scott. I took your survey regarding reforms as it related to Mr. Scott. I saw the results of those who thought some reforms were taken. It is clear that some of our citizens are unable to equate unconstitutional conduct from professional law enforcement that reflects a shared commitment to effective professional treatment of citizens.
